The Pursuit of Building a Brand Online

In the new world we are entering into where information is at the tip of our fingers everywhere we go, thanks to social networking, the whole branding experience has changed. No longer do consumers wish to be sold to, they wish to interact, and technology has broken down the wall between business and consumer to let this happen.

On Myspace, I might be a friends with my favorite comedian, on Facebook I might be a fan of “The Office,” on LinkedIn I’m friends with one of our company vendors and I also decided to write a review of my favorite restaurant on Yelp. You see, social media has given businesses the chance to be friended, liked, shared, reviewed, etc. with our consumers (or businesses for B2B), which in reality is building a network of people that help sustain a company’s brand!
